Dubai International Finance Centre accelerates its digital transformation to become the region's most advanced financial hub

Huawei's CloudCampus helps to quickly roll out super capacity, intelligent, self-correcting network

While DIFC has always prioritised digitisation to enhance connectivity and accessibility across its hub (since well before the COVID-19 digital transformation wave), it was looking to scale up its existing infrastructure threefold by 2024. Huawei's new CloudCampus 2.0 solution was the perfect fit to meet the centre’s growing connectivity requirements.

A core component of the transformation was the launch of next generation Wi-Fi 6 in partnership with Huawei, which enabled the building of a gigabit-capable, fully-wireless smart campus network with the capacity to support innovative smart services. This digital transformation work with Huawei reinforces DIFC’s position as the most advanced financial hub in the MEASA region, offering the fastest wireless local area network (WLAN) technology to date.

Why is campus networking important for workspace transformation?

Many organisations started the process of digital transformation a few years ago, but 90 per cent of all digital transformation work took place at enterprise headquarters or larger subsidiaries. Now, ‘post-pandemic’, an increasing number of smaller branch offices and production terminals are going wireless. The same network has to cater to an exponential number of bandwidth-hungry and latency-sensitive devices and applications. Unfortunately, legacy campus networks are unable to ensure steady bandwidth, guarantee service quality, or proactively find and resolve network faults. Challenges such as these are roadblocks for enterprise campuses’ digital transformation.

Through an intelligent experience: Campus networks today carry multiple key services, user and service experiences on the network, but these also have a direct impact on operations and collaboration efficiencies. The CloudCampus 2.0 Solution introduces artificial intelligence tools in the entire network and leverages Huawei's 5G technologies to intelligently learn of network changes, automatically optimize and reduce wireless network interference to improve network performance. It can also detect application types and dynamically adjust resources on the entire network, without compromising experience for key applications. Additionally, it automatically detects terminal roaming and achieves device-pipe synergy to push down the packet loss rate to near-zero.

Through autonomous deployment, service and remedy: Quick service rollout has become a prerequisite for solution providers. While it can take weeks to deploy a campus network consisting of thousands of switches, iMaster NCE, the universal platform for network management, control and analysis, is based on Autonomous Driving Network (ADN) architecture and helps roll out networks and services in days. This one system is used to centrally manage LAN, WAN, and WLAN networks, so new additions can be automatically deployed regardless of their size and location. iMaster NCE also supports continuous analysis of each user’s experience, in each application, and at each moment on the entire campus network, thereby proactively identifying faults and rectifying them before receiving any user complaints.
