Software Developer, Glasgow, Remote

As a member of the ResDiary development team, you will gain experience working with the latest technologies, doing full-stack development across the ResDiary product set. Expect to be using C# .NET Core, React.js, SQL, Azure and Octopus deploy on a daily basis.

We trust our developers to do what’s best for the product and we give them the support they need to make whatever they do a success. We expect you to strive to improve both yourself and the product whenever you can, and in return you’ll be given the freedom to take time to learn new skills and experiment with new technologies.

You should be willing to get involved in all aspects of the software development life-cycle: we want you to own what you do, not just finish the code and throw it over the wall. You’ll be working closely with other members of the development team as well as collaborating with the Product, Design, QA, and Support teams to produce quality code and end-user products. Therefore, good communication skills are a must.

We are strong believers in TDD and thorough testing in general and expect you to be too.

Our technology

Our teams are free to use the technologies they think suit best but in general we’re a .NET house and you’ll find various versions being used in our code base. Most new code is written in .NET Core with React.js and hosted in Azure using Kubernetes. You’ll also see CosmosDB, Redis, Octopus and Azure pipelines used frequently.

Agile Project Manager, Glasgow, Remote

ResDiary has ambitious plans for 2021. We’re launching multiple projects into large new growth markets over the course of the year and need a strong project manager to help us deliver.

This is a new role for ResDiary and we want you to shape it using your experience and expertise. You’ll be working with colleagues of all levels across the business and will be particularly involved with the engineering, product and design teams. You’ll have experience delivering large, multi-stage software projects that touch every aspect of the business and will have responsibility for ensuring our product delivery is a success.

You’ll be heavily involved in agreeing and controlling the scope of a project or product workstream. As such, you’ll have responsibility for the continuous reporting and improvement of our progress towards our delivery goals. The right individual for this role will have an ambitious but pragmatic mindset when it comes to delivery – speed is important but not at the expense of quality.

ResDiary is a high volume, globally distributed SaaS product so it’s important that you’ve had experience working with similar products.

Your experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar digital project management or delivery role
  • Experience in agile software development
  • Experience working with remote teams, across multiple timezones
  • Experience in software development tools, e.g. Jira, Confluence, Basecamp

Technical Lead DevOps, Glasgow, Remote

We’re looking for someone to lead the team responsible for creating and managing the infrastructure used to run all of our applications and monitoring systems. This team is responsible for a variety of different tasks, including creating and maintaining Kubernetes clusters, writing Terraform to provision infrastructure, managing SQL Server databases, and making sure that our logging and metrics systems are working correctly.

Where possible we try to ensure that our development teams are able to deploy and manage their own applications. Because of this, we’re looking for someone who is passionate about setting standards and automating processes, as well as writing clear documentation that other members of the development team can follow.

We currently have a mixture of applications deployed to legacy infrastructure like Cloud Services, as well as .NET Core applications deployed to Kubernetes clusters. As part of the team you will support these systems, and help migrate them safely to newer technologies.

In addition, you will be expected to join our on-call rota, and periodically perform maintenance tasks outside of normal working hours to avoid customer impact.

Your experience

  • Experience leading a team of engineers, and figuring out how to take projects from start to finish successfully.
  • Working with Cloud infrastructure. We use Azure, but we’re also interested if you have experience with other systems like AWS or Google Cloud.
  • Using infrastructure automation tools like Terraform.
  • Working with Kubernetes, ideally including creating and managing Kubernetes clusters.
  • Comfortable working with both Windows Server and Linux systems.
  • Managing geo-replicated SQL Server instances, with knowledge of performance tuning.
  • Managing and using observability systems for logging, metrics and alerting.
  • Creating and maintaining CI and deployment pipelines.
  • Managing domains and DNS records.
  • An understanding of common networking techniques like load balancing.
  • Experience working on an on-call rota.
