Make your public cloud truly secure for you with this one neat trick – no, really

SD-WAN can bump up your network defenses – and our next webcast will show you how

Webcast Your organisation is probably deploying apps in the public cloud by now, either because you're following the industry norm of general migration into off-prem environments, or perhaps because you're having to support a dispersed workforce as we enter the "new normal" of a world battling COVID-19.

Whatever the reason, you’ll be thinking more remotely, and will be at least aware of the purported advantages of a cloud deployment – efficiencies, features for collaboration, and so on.

What may be bothering you, however, are the numerous available ways to secure the data in a cloud deployment. While the age-old concepts of identity and access management, encryption, and good end-user security software come to mind, you may not have as readily considered how SD-WAN – software-defined wide-area networking – can contribute to cloud security, all while offering the many other benefits more typically associated with SD-WAN.

Who can resist enhanced network performance, better reliability, improved operating costs, and – on top of it all – buffed security? It’s an attractive package.

But then there’s another issue: research from Vanson Bourne revealed more than half of surveyed organisations would prefer to have their SD-WAN offered by their cloud provider as opposed to a third party. Is this even possible?

Here to the rescue in discussing this thorny issue is Barracuda Networks’ Mike Goldof, who will join The Register’s Tim Phillips on our virtual sofa to discuss the best options when choosing an SD-WAN, with security a high priority.

On July 30, 2020, at 4pm BST, Mike and Tim will discuss how – whether you’re just starting your organisation’s journey to cloud, or whether you’re upping your reliance on off-prem platforms to serve new ways of working – right now is the time to start carefully checking that your WAN is up to snuff on a security level.

They’ll be grounding the debate by going through the security and performance benefits of SD-WAN in the first place, and how these manifest in different options and deployments.

Finally, Mike and Tim will cover the best ways to deploy and integrate a security-focused SD-WAN, while keeping in mind your specific security needs.
