British bloke bailed after 'hacker plunders Pippa Middleton's iCloud'

Cops cuff, grill chap after tab tapped with offer of saucy pics for sale

A man in Northamptonshire, UK, has been quizzed by cops investigating attempts by a hacker to sell the private photographs of Pippa Middleton – the sister to the Duchess of Cambridge.

This weekend, The Sun reported that someone using the nickname "Crafty Cockney" contacted it with an offer of the contents of Ms Middleton's iCloud account, including details for her forthcoming wedding, pictures of fitting for the dress, and nude photos of her fiancé.

"I would cosider (sic) these highly highly sought," the miscreant said. "There is of course a price for which im (sic) accepting offers of a minimum of 50,000 GBP. This isnt (sic) an auction it will be a simple process of the highest bid in the next 48 hours (as of 4pm 23/09/16)."

The Currant Bun, one of Britain's more monarchically inclined newspapers, didn't take up the offer and instead informed the Palace and the police. A 35-year-old bloke was collared shortly afterwards, grilled by the plod, and released on bail on Monday afternoon.

"A man arrested by detectives investigating the hacking of a personal iCloud account has been bailed," the Metropolitan Police told The Reg today.

"The 35-year-old man was arrested on Saturday evening, 24 September at an address in Northamptonshire on suspicion of a Computer Misuse Act offence. On Sunday, 25 September he was released on bail, to return to a south London police station on a date late November pending further enquiries."

Middleton gained an enormous amount of interest (and an unsavory offer) after acting as chief bridesmaid when her sister married heir to the throne, Prince William. The personal phone numbers of the future king and his wife are thought to be included in the archive offered for sale. ®
