Calling all hipster... *hic* hip-hip-storians! Craft beer job spotted

Smithsonian on lookout for boozy history buff

Had enough of tech? Sporting a big or any kind of unlikely looking beard or interestingly dyed hair? El Reg has found the perfect new job where you’ll get paid handsomely to espouse the wonders of trendy beer.

The Smithsonian Food History project at the National Museum of American History is looking for a professional hipster who can double up as a historian/ scholar.

The successful candidate will manage archival and field research for a new project on American brewing history “with special emphasis on the craft industry”. You gotta know your six-pack from your keg belly.

The three-year contract is open to someone with a track record in scholarly research, organising and conducting oral history interviews, and can write for beer boffins or punters in the general populace.

An advanced degree in American business, brewing, food stuffs, cultural or similar specialisations are a must, in return the brew history oficiando will get $64,650 a year plus benefits.

Minorities, the disabled and candidates of all backgrounds are “encouraged” to apply… even if you’ve worked at a tech reseller. Applications close on 10 August (PDF) . ®
