Security: Are you throwing good money after bad?

HPE's vice-president of enterprise security solutions explains where to make your security spend count

PROMO Organisations invest billions on security every year. Yet hardly a day passes on which The Reg's Security channel doesn't have a new breach on which to report.

Clearly, plenty of security investments are not delivering a return!

How to make sure your money keeps you out of our headlines?

Earl Matthews, HPE's vice-president of enterprise security solutions, argues that it's time to re-prioritise security spend.

"Matthews is a former Director of Cyberspace Operations for the US Air Force and says organisations currently spend about 70 per cent of their security cash on blocking threats. He'd rather you spend money on figuring out how to get ahead of breaches.

Without offering too many spoilers for our Webinar next Tuesday, May 3rd, Matthews thinks that organisations that understand what to do when attacked do better than those who focus on prevention or cleaning up afterwards.

Join The Register's Mark Pesce and HPE's Earl Matthews in this webinar, in which Matthews will share insights from his 31 years working for the US government, insights from his experience on the front lines of cyber-ops and offer advice on how to get more bang for your security buck.
