Randall 'xkcd' Munroe. Live. You get to ask him stuff. No biggie

Win tickets for audience with cartoon godhead

Competition El Reg extends a Large Hadron Collider-sized thank you to everybody who entered our Randall Munroe Thing Explainer book quiz.

We received more than 600 entries but there could be just five winners. Those receiving a copy of Thing Explainer signed by Munroe are:

  • Simon Reveley
  • Jim Thurston
  • Chris Wilkinson
  • Ben Gaines
  • Simon Spark

But rather like Star Wars: A New Hope in 1977, this is not the end.

The Register has obtained a pair of tickets to the Royal Institution in London for a live link-up with Munroe who’ll be speaking at the Space Center in Houston.

Munroe is appearing in Houston as part of a nine-city US tour promoting Thing Explainer. He won’t be visiting the UK so the Royal Institution will be your only chance to see the brain behind xkcd in “person” – via live link – and ask him about life, the universe and everything: Royal Institution audience members each get the chance to submit a question.

The event is 5pm on December 7, at the Royal Institution, 21 Albemarle St, London W1S 4BS.

For a chance to win, all you need do is submit a Reg-inspired, Munroe-esqe, stick-person cartoon to Competition@theregister.co.uk.

You can use a graphics package or go analogue and draw something manually that you then scan or photograph and email as an attachment. Either way, send us JPEGs or PDFs only, please.

Deadline for submissions is 10am, December 4. The winner will be notified by email. ®
