Huawei’s FusionSphere now a SAP-happy converged system
Telco behemoth claims support for high system capacity
Chinese telecoms equipment behemoth Huawei has a converged system called FusionSphere, which now runs SAP HANA, the in-memory database.
It combines Huawei server, storage and networking components with the FusionSphere operating system. This integrates a FusionCompute virtualisation platform and FusionManager cloud management software, and supports OpenStack.
FusionSphere OS components
There is a service abstraction layer under FusionSphere’s OpenStack SW and this provides access to FusionStorage, FusionCompute and FusionNetworking.
These three functions can be enabled using Huawei’s own hardware and software or third-party devices, and a third-party service abstraction layer can be used as an alternative to Huawei’s.
Huawei claims FusionSphere supports the industry's highest system capacity. For example, a FusionSphere system can support up to 80,000 virtual machines.
