EMC shareholders slap biz with class action suit

Not happy with $67bn sale to Dell, but that's all we know

EMC/Dell deal A class action suit has been launched against EMC by shareholders opposed to the $67bn (£48bn) acquisition of the company by Dell.

The filing was made against EMC in a Massachusetts district court on Friday. No further details of the complaint were available on the court's filing site.

Last week a suit was brought in a state court in Manhattan, with a shareholder claiming the deal was the result of a “flawed process”, reported Bloomberg.

An EMC spokeswoman, Katryn McGaughey, and a Dell spokesman, David Frink, declined to comment to Bloomberg on the suit.

At the time of the deal, EMC chairman and CEO Joe Tucci said: “Our new company will be exceptionally well-positioned for growth in the most strategic areas of next generation IT, including digital transformation, software-defined data centre, converged infrastructure, hybrid cloud, mobile and security."

The Register has contacted EMC for further comment. ®
