Internet of Things SoC devs: Never touched ARM? Oh go on then

Pre-commercial access to Cortex-M0 IP, anyone?

ARM has offered a platform to System on Chip (SoC) component developers, through free use of its (pre-commercialisation) Cortex-M0 processor IP.

The British multinational's sales offer includes the Cortex-M0 System Design Kit, as well as a free 90-day licence for its Keil MDK development tools.

After enjoying ARM's free trial and cheap prototyping, developers who desire to enter commercial production are offered "a simplified and standardised $40,000 fast track license".

The package, which is now available through ARM's DesignStart portal, is intended to make it "far easier to design, prototype and produce" SoC components.

"The DesignStart portal is available to all SoC designers, but will be particularly valuable to companies that are incorporating ARM technology for the first time," said Nandan Nayampally, the ARM CPU group's marketing veep. ®
