Has Microsoft saved the Apple Watch with Outlook improvement?

Well, maybe, but at least it's defo harder to miss emails now

Microsoft has updated its Outlook service for iOS to support the Apple Watch, the smartwatch the world isn't quite wearing, at the moment at least.

The official Microsoft office mail client for those who have to use Apple products has been upgraded, and the new version 1.3.5 now adds the watch “glance mode” so that you can see your Outlook Inbox or next calendar entry by swiping up from the watch face.

Both Calendar and Email can be shown on the same screen.

There are canned replies which can be sent from the watch to avoid the tedious processes of both getting your phone out of your pocket and engaging your brain sufficiently to think of an excuse. There is also support for emojis and voice dictation.

Office on iOS and Android supports Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, Outlook.com, iCloud, Gmail, and Yahoo Mail. Files can be attached from email, OneDrive, or Dropbox, so it doesn’t commit you to the Microsoft ecosystem.

There is prioritised or chronological email, and simple options to delete message.

To support the brave new world of smartwatches, Microsoft has a new wearable productivity site for Apple Watch ®.
