Strategy: Key to success or a set of MBA-made handcuffs

Possibly the most abused word in this industry.

Reg Roundtable Try to steer a technology organisation in the absence of a strategy and you will be buffeted by the waves, until your organisation finally goes down with all hands. Or so most strategy consultants would have you believe.

At the same time, an overly rigid strategy can soon become a dead weight, crushing your ability to innovate and contribute to the success of your organisation?

That’s why our September roundtable will be asking:

Is strategy the key to your success or the handcuffs preventing it?

We’ll be examining the chasm between agreeing objectives and constructing a flexible path to achieving them, and locking yourself into a succession of milestones that take no account of the changing environment outside your organisation.

We want to know how you evolve and implement a technology strategy that meshes with your organisation’s grand strategy? Particularly if the business’ strategy is being driven by an over-active sales team, or buzzword obsessed marketing team?

And, crucially, where do you start if you arrive at a company that has a failed strategy, either at IT or company level?

We’ll be meeting at a central London Hotel on September 23 at 3pm. The formal discussion will last 90 minutes, and then we’d like you to join us to continue the conversation informally over fine wine and cocktails. The whole event will be conducted under the Chatham House Rule.

We’ll be keeping the numbers down to no more than 12, but please register your interest below and we'll be in touch to let you know if you've secured a place. If you don’t make the list for this event, don’t worry, we’ll make sure you’re on the list for future events. To register, click here. ®
