Han Solo to get solo prequel flick in 2018, helmed by LEGO men

Perhaps we'll finally learn how he managed to live after shooting second

Disney's plans to shamelessly cash in on tell more and richer stories from the Star Wars universe will result in a solo Han Solo film in 2018.

Starwars.com reports that the as-yet-un-named entertainment will be helmed by Christopher Miller and Phil Lord, the duo responsible for The LEGO Movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, plus 21 and 22 Jump Street.

The film will explore “how young Han Solo became the smuggler, thief, and scoundrel whom Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi first encountered in the cantina at Mos Eisley.”

All will be revealed on May 25th, 2018. Here's hoping the flick addresses Solo's two big missing pieces, namely how he managed to emerge from the Mos Eisely Cantina after shooting second and his methods for making the Kessel run in 12 parsecs.

The new film will form part of the Star Wars Anthology, a planned series of side stories. Disney's already announced another film in the series, namely Rogue One. Due in late 2016, the film will explore how the blueprints for the Death Star found their way into the hands of the Rebel Alliance. ®
