Anakin Skywalker chased by cops, crashes podracer into tree

Not so much 'Luke, I am your father' as LOOK WHERE YOU ARE GOING

Anakin Skywalker – legally known as Jake Lloyd – has been arrested after a high-speed police chase concluded when his vehicle ploughed into a tree.

Lloyd, 26, was arrested for reckless driving, failure to stop, resisting arrest and driving without a licence in Charleston, South Carolina.

According to the sheriff's deputies, they began to pursue the former child star when he began passing cars across a double yellow line and was driving recklessly at high speeds.

Lloyd was only 10 years old when he achieved fame as the skilled podracer and nascent Darth Vader in the 1999 Star Wars prequel. He retired from acting after The Phantom Menace was released, due to the pressures it put upon him at school.

A popular instalment of George Lucas' intergalactic entertainment series, the prequel was released in 3D back in 2011, and introduced new characters which have remained long-lasting fan favourites, chief among them being Jar Jar Binks.

In an interview describing his school days, Lloyd has noted that "other children were really mean" to him.

"They would make the sound of the light saber every time they saw me. It was totally mad. My entire school life was really a living hell — and I had to do up to 60 interviews a day." ®
