4Chan man Moot logs off as admin for last time

So long and thanks for all the GOATSE

The founder of web cesspit 4chan has bailed from the site he created.

Chris “Moot” Poole says he's “decided it's time for me to move on”.

Moot founded the site aged 15 and has been its administrator ever since. With more than eleven years heading the site, and the small matter of 42,176,061,890 page views under his belt, Poole wants to get on with his life.

Moot's farewell post says he's spent the last couple of years making sure the site has the financial, human and technical resources to go on without him, so feels he can now go do something else with his life without imperilling the site's future. Indeed, he thinks the site will do better without him as a bottleneck.

For the uninitiated, 4chan is a message board on which too much grossness is never enough and NSFW is a badge of honour. The board rose to infamy as a source of “memes - user-captioned photos – many of which emerged from the notorious /b/ board.

Poole's not saying what he'll do next, but may be shy of kicking off another venture as his last startup tanked after being hacked by Bitcoin miners who abused his AWS account, leading him to dissolve the company. ®
