Hey, posh boy. Fancy a £200m PHONE THREESOME?

Councils encourage other London boroughs to join their multi-way telco action

A massive phone and network connectivity services framework between three local authorities is up for grabs, valued up to £200m over four years.

A contract notice for by the procurement peeps at the Royal Borough of Chelsea and Kensington was published this week on the Official Journal of the European Union.

The tender for services "to access and gain network connectivity and telecommunication services including services over the Public Services Network" was issued by the RBCK, in partnership with the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham and Westminster City Council.

The notice also invited other local authorities, blue light services and NHS bodies to grab a share of the action.

The full services include data access, local connectivity, traditional and IP-based telephony, video and audio conferencing, mobile and pagers, call centres, email, internet, content filtering and other security systems.

The three councils have a long-standing agreement to share IT, having swapped services since 2012.

As part of a recent renewed IT shared services agreement, five top IT roles wll go, which the boroughs hope will contribute to annual IT savings of £6.55m by 2017/18

Under the shake-up of the boroughs' top IT top brass, Ed Garcez, group CIO, will have the only CIO role. ®
