That 'tech-free' Nophone? It was already out years ago

Well, sort of... Remember the Stuckist Phone?

A “tech free” phone has raised over $18,000 on Kickstarter. The electronics-free "NoPhone" provides “a rectangle of smooth, cold plastic to clutch without forgoing any potential engagement with your direct environment” – according to its makers.

Backers receive a 3D-printed model of the dummy, which is itself a dummy. But if this is a gag that sounds familiar, that's because it is, and it featured here years ago.

Stuckist artist Richard Conway-Jones created a “UPG” – or “Useless Palm Gadget” four years ago, and designer Nick Healey touted its advantages in a report here.

Given that the NoPhone is a repeat of an earlier concept, shouldn’t the lawyers be alerted? It would be entirely in keeping with recent smartphone history if the NoPhone received a Stuckist no-patent infringement lawsuit. (in the opinion of this Stuckist not-a-patent attorney, of course).®
