Chinese hackers slurp iCloud passwords, Apple's CEO jumps into his jet for China

Apple boss Tim Cook has met top Chinese officials following a major attack on the security of the iCloud website – an assault that some security analysts have blamed on Beijing.

Cook was snapped in full demon headmaster mode heading into a pow-wow with Vice Premier Ma Kai.

According to the Xinhua news agency, the issues of "protection of users' information" as well as "strengthening cooperation and in information and communication fields" were on the table.

Basically, this means China wanted reassurances about data security, which is as hot a topic in the People's Republic as it is in the West.

But the Chinese apparatchiks aren't worried about the safety of their naked selfies, but national security.

The latest man-in-the-middle attack on the iCloud service came on the very day that Apple's iPhone 6 hit stores in China. Apple has said it is "aware of intermittent organised network attacks". ®
