SHOW ME the MONEY: Payment code spied in Facebook Messenger
And show everyone else in the world, mostprobably
Peer-to-Peer (P2P) payments code has been spotted in Facebook's Messenger app by Andrew Aude, a Stanford student: but the massive advertising company has refused to confirm it's working on payments technology.
"We don’t comment on rumour or speculation," a spokesman at the free content ad network told The Register when quizzed this morning.
Aude tweeted a screengrab image on Sunday afternoon that appeared to suggest that - as he put it - P2P payments were coming soon to Facebook Messenger.

The student found the code in the iOS version of Facebook's instant messaging app, which was first launched by the Mark Zuckerberg-run company in 2011.
P2P payments could allow Facebookers to send funds to each other in the same way that they can share photos via the service today. Not terrifying at all. Nope. ®
