Apple flops out latest OS X Mavericks beta, hopes sound+graphics sorted

Will version 10.9.3 kill audiovisual woes? The devs will tell ALL

Apple has rolled out a brand new beta version of Mavericks to devs in the hope they will test its updated graphics and audio drivers.

The new version of Mavericks is numbered 10.9.3 (13D17) . It was first seeded to developers earlier this month, but this latest iteration is a proper pre-release build.

Mavericks has proven problematic to makers of audio hardware, with many reports of dodgy audio when using external interfaces.

There have also been reports of graphics corruption.

Some of these problems were solved by previous updates or by patches, but Apple will want devs to squash any remaining issues once and for all.

The latest Mavericks build supports 4K screens and allows the Mac Pro to utilise 60Hz output over its display port.

This could tally with recent rumours that Apple is planning to release its own 4K display this year, which would sit nice and expensively next to the latest Mac Pro. ®
