How do notebook PC brands stack up?

Give us your views

Reg Tech Panel Notebook PCs have now been an integral part of the business IT mix for long enough to be a routine procurement item. As the new needs arise and the relentless equipment refresh cycle spirals on, many organisations spend significant amounts of money on this kind of kit, not to mention a lot of man hours supporting and maintaining it.

Some would argue that the kit itself is commoditising as we have seen cheap machines come onto the market with specs (at least on paper) that rival those of mainstream brands at significantly lower cost.

But is price and paper specification all that matters? What about design, build quality, maintainability, supplier support, and so on? There is then the desirability angle, which may be of more of a concern to users than the IT department, but is another factor to consider.

Against this background, we'd be interested in your views of how the various supplier brands stack up in terms of delivering what's needed to meet the needs of business use. So, if you have experience or opinions in this area, please have a crack at our reader survey.
