HP plan for faster, 64GB TouchPad leaks out
Early adopter penalty?
HP has only just announced its TouchPad tablet - which isn't even shipping in the UK yet - but it's already gearing up to release an upgraded version, it seems.
According to slides allegedly leaked from an HP presentation, the WebOS-based fondleslab will gain 64GB of storage and an unspecified "processor bump" in August, PreCentral reports.
Good, we say, given the performance of the current TouchPad, specced with a choice of 16GB or 32GB of storage, is one of the product's weak points.
The new model will be white, as HP seeks to push its 9.7in iPad-alike tablet even harder against Apple.
August will also see the arrival of the expected 4G-enabled TouchPad, which will be offered as an alternative to the 32GB, Wi-Fi only model, in the US.
PreCentral's leak has what's been identified as a 7in TouchPad debuting at some point in the autumn alongside the Pre 3 smartphone. ®
