Sony Ericsson delays X10 Android update

Gingerbread still cooking

Sony Ericsson has restated its intention to bring Gingerbread to the Xperia X10 phone. If your memory stretches back to March you’ll have heard a similar promise of “end Q2/early Q3” for this update to version 2.3 of the Android OS.

In this latest missive, on the Sony Ericsson product blog, the company states that “Development and testing is still ongoing and the current plan is start the roll-out in the beginning of August.”

The statement also lists response to feedback which includes the restoration of some camera features in the update and that unlike 2011 products, DLNA will not be a feature of Gingerbread update for the X10. The company also reaffirms that the Xperia X10 mini, X10 mini pro and X8 are not included in the update plans due to these handsets having less RAM than the X10. ®
