Nokia knocks back N8

Delayed to tweak user experience

It's official: Nokia has delayed the release of its N8 smartphone by a month.

Originally set to ship direct from Nokia at the end of September, with operators getting the handset early in October, Nokia's UK N8 pre-order page now says the device will arrive at the "end of October".

Tweets from operator insiders and analysts, and other rumours had hinted at N8 software problems, but Nokia has only said that it is holding the handset back in order to "ensure a great user experience", according to the company, by way of Dutch-language site All About Nokia Phones.

The Pamela Anderson-promoted handset promises "flick scrolling and pinch-to-zoom, plus a faster and more responsive user interface", along with a 12Mp camera capable of recording HD video. It has HDMI output.
