Sony Ericsson ships Satio patch

Sony Ericsson's Satio 12Mp cameraphone has received a firmware update that appears to fix the touchscreen issues that prompted the company to pull the handset from shop shelves.

The update, version R1CA037, certainly seems to improve the handset's responsiveness, early feedback suggests, but it's not yet known whether the new software addresses the “sudden freezing”, battery problems, “ringtone faults” and software crashes that some users had reported their Satios subjected them to.

The update hasn't yet filtered through to retailers Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4 U, neither of which were listing the Satio on their websites this morning after removing them last week.

That said, Sony Ericsson itself was offering the handset, as were a number of third-party retailers. ®
