Apple adds Tesco as iPhone partner

Every retailer helps

It already sells milk, bread, booze, car insurance and furniture. Now supermarket behemoth Tesco is to add the Apple iPhone to its growing inventory.

Tesco today confirmed a joint venture with O2, enabling the supermarket to introduce the iPhone 3G and 3GS into its retail operation "shortly".

The handset will be sold through Tesco’s Phone Shops and Tesco Direct website, the supermarket said.

However, it’s unlikely the Apple smartphone will appear on supermarket shelves beside BOGOF offers for tinned tomatoes.

Official price plans haven’t been confirmed. But since Tesco has partnered with O2, it's likely that the supermarket will stick to the network provider’s existing iPhone price plans.

Presumably you will get Clubcard points with every iPhone purchased from Tesco. ®
