RegisterFly domain transfer imminent, ICANN reports

Unnamed registrar rides to rescue

ICANN has finally found a registrar with a track record to take over renegade registrar RegisterFly's domains.

RegisterFly, which lost its ICANN accreditation after repeated violations of the Registrar Accreditation Agreement (RAA), has been embroiled in litigation with former customers, ICANN, and even with itself.

The company is basically dead after a bitter personal breakup between two co-founders, Kevin Medina and John Naruszewicz, led to a power struggle for control of the company. A bizarre series of events ensued, in which supporters of each individual hacked back and forth into each other's servers, vying for control of registrant data.

CEO Kevin Medina has repeatedly failed to show up at court to answer ICANN's litigation, and apparently is on the verge of being held in contempt, which could result in jail time. Allegations of gross mismanagement of company funds - for prostitutes, liposuction and show grade chihuahuas - have dogged Medina for months, and many upset former customers will be more than happy to see him dressed in jail casual.

According to the report, most of the data has now been secured. It appears that Medina soon will be as well.
