Concern for the environment and a recognition of the potential cost benefits will see small businesses turn to Voice over IP (VoIP) telephony in their droves next year, according to InClarity.

The broadband telephony provider, which says its VoIP sales have grown 750 per cent in the last 12 months, says smaller firms will ditch their PBX systems in favour of hosted VoIP solutions.

The Stern Report's focus on the economics of climate change means that while cost will be a major driver, companies are starting to put a price on their greeness too.

"The convergence of voice and data is enabling increased productivity and efficiency by cutting the need to commute so often," InClarity chief operating officer Craig Joseph said.

"Cost savings, added functionality, and flexible working are all key drivers in the IT managers' decision making process. Hosted VoIP solutions meet all these needs as well as addressing environmental concerns." ®
